'She Was A Good Girl'

She was a good girl.
Where has she gone?

The question you ask
Has an obvious answer.
But you’re too blind to see.
You’ve made her this way
And I’m sad to say,
You’ll never get you’re little girl back.

You’ll never know,
But you tore her down
And made her feel like nothing.
You must have been unaware
To all those nights she fell asleep
To the silent serenade of her own tears.

You asked her why she put up her walls.
Did it ever occur to you
that maybe
She didn’t want the pain
of not feeling loved or cared for?
That maybe all your criticizing and judging
Hurt her more than than
Any physical pain possibly could?
You asked why she felt this way,
But of course you were to oblivious to see
That what she said,
Was really the truth.

Those standards and rules.
They were too harsh.
Maybe if you would just look back and see.
You suffocated her.
She had never done anything
To break your trust.
But yet you treated her
Like she was some sort of problem child.


She didn’t want to be like you.
And it made you upset that you didn’t see eye to eye
On many things.
So instead of accepting her,
You told her she wasn’t good
And that you were disappointed in her.

She tried and tried
But it was never good enough
And no matter what,
You’d always find a flaw.
She didn’t understand what she’d done
To deserve this.
And little did you know,
She was wanting to be lost
in the ever peaceful darkness that was beginning to overcome her.

Do you still wonder where your little girl has gone?
Well, I guess she’s just lost
Lost in all the pain you’ve caused her.
You wonder why she’s turned out this way,
But you’re the only one to blame.

She was a good girl.
To bad you forced her away.
Too bad she isn’t coming back.
